Cowdin Design + Build

Cowdin Design + Build

Residential Remodeling Sales Consultant

Location: Plymouth, MI (Metro Detroit West Side)

Sell Exceptional Remodeling Projects. Get Paid Like an Owner.

Cowdin Design + Build is a highly focused residential design-build firm serving Metro Detroit's west side. We complete 10-13 major remodeling projects per year--whole-home renovations, kitchens, primary suites, additions, and exterior transformations--executed with craftsmanship, clarity, and an exceptional client experience.

We are preparing to bring on a pure sales professional--a hunter--who knows how to generate their own opportunities, earn trust quickly, and close high-quality residential remodeling work.

This is a 100% commission-based sales role built for someone who wants upside, autonomy, and pay directly tied to performance.

What You'll Do

  • Proactively generate new remodeling opportunities through personal networks, referrals, realtors, past clients, and local relationships
  • Respond to qualified inbound leads when available and convert them into signed design + build contracts
  • Conduct initial client consultations and site visits to understand scope, goals, and budget alignment
  • Educate homeowners on Cowdin's design-build process, setting clear expectations and building confidence
  • Work with our internal team to develop scopes, budgets, and proposals that are clear, accurate, and buildable
  • Present proposals and close contracts
  • Maintain strong client relationships through the sales phase to ensure a smooth handoff into design and production
  • Represent Cowdin Design + Build professionally in the community and marketplace

Your job is to sell great work to the right clients and hand off clean, well-aligned projects to our team.

Compensation Structure

  • 100% commission-based role
  • Commission paid on signed design + build contracts
  • Higher commission percentage on self-generated work
  • Ongoing commission alignment when repeat or referral clients close
  • Commission structure designed to mirror ownership-style upside without ownership risk
  • No cap on earnings

This role is ideal for someone who wants control over income and is confident in their ability to generate and close work.

Who This Is For

  • A proven residential remodeling salesperson or business development professional
  • Someone who already has relationships in the local market--or knows how to build them fast
  • A self-starter who does not need a salary to stay motivated
  • A professional who values transparency, craftsmanship, and long-term client relationships
  • Someone comfortable selling projects in the mid-to-high five-figure to six-figure range

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success selling residential remodeling, construction, or related professional services
  • Strong consultation, presentation, and closing skills
  • Ability to qualify clients honestly and walk away from poor-fit opportunities
  • Professional communication style and presence suitable for high-end residential clients
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Familiarity with design-build or remodeling processes strongly preferred
  • CRM or Buildertrend experience is a plus (we'll train on our system)

Why Cowdin Design + Build

  • Focused firm with clear standards and no chaos
  • High-quality projects you can sell with confidence
  • Strong reputation and repeat/referral-driven business
  • Clean handoffs between sales, design, and production
  • Leadership that respects sales as a revenue-driving function--not an admin role

Employment is at-will. Offers are contingent on background and driving record review, consistent with applicable law. Cowdin Design + Build is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Reasonable accommodations are available throughout the hiring process.
